Purebred, sporty, small standard poodles in brown and black

Pivotal Poodles occasionally produces purebred, sporty, small standard poodle puppies in brown and black. We did not start with any intention to breed, but decided to take the plunge to continue the lines we value, so that we can have dogs we love for the rest of our lives. 

I grew up with four standard poodles who could be called “well-bred,” because their breeders showed their dogs in Canadian Kennel Club (CKC) conformation shows and health tested their breeding dogs to avoid producing hip dysplasia and certain genetic diseases that can be prevented by avoiding certain recessive genes.

Sadly, not one of my family’s poodles was truly healthy. My family learned the hard way that while health tests play a crucial role, breeders must do more to prevent autoimmune diseases, bloat and cancer.

That's why, in addition to being fully health tested in the traditional ways, Pivotal poodles also have proven, better-than-average genetic diversity -- which research has shown is associated with lower risk of autoimmune diseases.

Pivotal Poodles makes breeding plans to support the desire to live and play with healthy, vibrant dogs we love -- not just today but well into the future.

We engage in activities we enjoy together, and pursue titles in alignment with our dogs' developmental readiness and our ongoing relationship together.

Titles are prioritized in balance with the reality of owning four dogs, three who are young -- and with the limitations of working a full-time job and spending time with humans I care about. Each of my dogs has different talents, and our activities happen within the context of managing the human realities of cost, time, and mental wellness. Any puppies we produce will be sold into homes who elevate their relationships and lives with their dog over any titles they may achieve together. 

We love living with and playing with our Pivotal poods, and we’re seeking dedicated and loving homes who will treasure them as family members and partners in fun activities and learning. Pivotal poodles are for people who love life and enjoy including a dog (or a few) in their pursuits – inside and outside, mentally and physically, in play, rest and work.
