Why "pivot"?

I never had any intention to actively breed. Breeding well -- in the way I'd want someone to breed my next family member -- is expensive, exhausting, and an enormous responsibility. If a breeder is only breeding a few times, the price of their puppies barely offsets the money invested to fully test their parents and to breed, whelp and raise the litter – even before factoring in the months of 24/7 work.

But like many others, the COVID-19 pandemic pushed me to rethink my role in sustaining what I personally value. I want my vision of an ideal poodle when I’m an old lady. And it only takes a few short years for uncommon lines to disappear forever.

If we value health in our purebred dogs, we need to preserve genetic diversity in the breeds we love. If we don't actively work to preserve the genetics that promote robust health, we risk them ceasing to exist.

My dogs are not perfect. But they're healthy, attractive, sound and truly wonderful partners. I've learned  a lot about their individual strengths and weaknesses, tendencies, drives and pedigree health, and I will continue to learn and pay attention to new information, both good and bad. I have worked with them and will continue to explore them and discover how they think.

Since I both live and work with my breeding dogs, I am well-positioned to find the best partners for them, and you. I can help you know what to anticipate and support you through any challenges. My job is to match you with the best pup for you, match my pups with the best people for them, and then continue to support you both in your success together.

I will take on this immense responsibility and financial risk to create a future that includes these uncommon lines, for the betterment of my life and the breed I believe in.
